Mystery Solved!!!


I had this pair of American expatriate paintings hanging around for years without an attribution that would stick... until a friend offered me the painting below by Walter Eben Nettleton. Mystery solved!

Walter Eben Nettleton (1861-1936)

Born in New Haven, Connecticut. Graduate of Yale University in 1883. Studied under Lefebvre and Boulanger, and afterward under Carolus Duran and Alexander Harrison. Honorable Mention, Paris Salon, 1892. In 1900 he was living in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
